(1)
It had originally been provided that the Colomal
Feeel Government should retain the proceeds
of the sale of any outlying unrequired
portions of the Kai Tak Reclamation area;
and it was anticipated that this concession
would be equivalent to the saving of about
£50,000. Owing to revised and increased
estimates of R.A.F. requirements no such
sales were actually found possible.
(2) The Hong Kong Government undertook to make
use of the presence of Dutch dredgers in
Macao to have parts of the Hong Kong
harbour dredged, and the material used to
form the reclaimed area. They were
prepared to bear the additional cost of
this themselves, although they would not
have undertaken the expense solely for
the
